As outreach communications specialists for transportation and infrastructure initiatives, the InGroup team knows that safety and comfort are intermodal concerns for people. When people are moving by any means—bus, train, auto, airplane or by bike or on foot—transportation system planners put passenger safety and comfort high on the list of priorities.

A recent example: New York City hopes to enhance the safety and comfort of pedestrians and bikers in the city by installing new bike lanes and “parklet” locations in particularly densely populated areas, including Brownsville and East New York. The “street seats” and bike lanes link together to form a network for pedestrians and bicyclists to safely navigate the dense urban areas. The hope is that providing locations for cyclists and pedestrians to rest when necessary will reduce the amount of rash decisions made out of haste or confusion, which can cause serious traffic accidents. The seating areas and bike lanes will also provide more opportunity for both locals and tourists to enjoy city without becoming traffic obstacles.

Comprehensive and effective outreach to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle is essential to the success of all transportation and infrastructure projects. Call on InGroup’s experts to create engagement and consensus for your next initiative.
