Reviewing the environmental review process

The environmental review process currently used in the U.S. for transportation and infrastructure projects needs to be refined and streamlined, according to Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) Executive Director Pay Foye and U.S. Senator Cory Booker (New Jersey). Speaking during a panel discussion sponsored by the Common Good on “Billions for Red Tape: Focusing on the Approval Process for the Gateway Rail Tunnel Project,” held in NYC on May 9, they noted that the current process leads to long delays and incurs unnecessary expense. “A national, refined, streamlined environmental process is actually a huge step further and benefits the environments,” said Mr. Foye.
