In the first half of 2018, the Port Authority of New York and Jersey’s commercial airports accommodated a record 66.5 million passengers, marking a 4.3% increase over the same period in 2107. The largest growth in passenger count was largest at Newark Liberty International Airport, which hosted a record 22.5 million travelers from January through June 2018, a jump of 1.5 million passengers (7.3) over first-half 2017 levels. A record 14.5 million air travelers passed through LaGuardia Airport in the first half of 2018—this amidst construction of an entirely new 21st century airport atop the existing airport without a reduction in flight operations. John F. Kennedy International Airport and New York Stewart International Airport also experienced significant increases in passenger count. For the Port Authority press release, click here.
