New York City’s GreenTaxi program has been so effective that Washington D.C. is looking to start their own version to serve their suburbs. By providing taxi service to the suburbs surrounding Central Business Districts, not only does it validate the members of those communities as part of the city, but it elevate some of the demand from other transportation systems, balances the congestion and improves their service ability.
