The Hicksville rail station is a very valuable piece of infrastructure, is heavily used, but out of date. The Hicksville Rail Station project would redevelop and modernize almost the entire station by adding things like, LED TV screens indicating arrival train times, enclosed glass heated waiting areas, new stairs, elevators, roofs and track floors. The benefits extend beyond the riders; the community will also be positively impacted. The project would create several jobs in the area stimulating economic growth. Upon completion the stations increased property value as well as that of other businesses that would be drawn to the area would lower the tax burden on the general public.
